EVERY CLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING!

Well this turned out to be a lovely spot and I think it`s their first day of hot weather. Last night we enjoyed a lovely meal at the hotel restaurant so decided to go back and have brunch. Oh that was after a lovely lie-in until 9am. Not wanting to waste the day we checked out of hotel but they held our bags. We then caught the bus to Manhattan Beach. While we were waiting for the bus we got chatting to a lovely couple from Pennsylvania, they were having a stopover on there way to Australia/New Zealand. We put the world to right and enjoyed their company very much. The bus dropped us off at the beach. This was a big expanse of white sand and palm trees again very Spanish style. Found a nice bar for a couple and then wandered onto the beach were we found some shade. The dolphins were swimming along the shore in amongst the surfers. We had 5minutes and then came along two lovely young men! one by the name of John and the other who was his brother, his name was Holden. Well after a few stories John asked for my phone number! what do you think of that then! that hasn`t happened to me for at least 30 years! Seriously they were two great lads and very confident and chatty. They were with their mom Crista and little sister Miah, she was gorgeous and took a shine to Brian. He was really chuffed. we chatted for a while and then had to say goodbye. When decided we should telephone Air Pacific to see if we were flying tonight and yes we are. Hopped back on bus to return to the hotel and now waiting to go to airport will speak tomorrow Bet x x x

CYCLONE TOMAS DELAYS TRIP

Hi sorry the message was only a short one last night the battery ran out on the laptop.Well the story is we are still in Los Angeles and staying at the radisson and the reason is when we went to check in at the air pacific desk last night the young lady told us that there would be no flights going out to Fiji because the island was being hit by a cyclone ,we thought she was joking at first but i suppose they are trained not to joke about those kind of things. Now as the day went yesterday we had a lovely drive down from pismo beach along the coast ,more wonderful scenery and stopped in Santa Barbara at the harbour for lunch, now Santa Barbara is really Spanish all the buildings have got that Spanish look to them and the place is immaculate, what i did find a bit strange though was when i went to the gents toilet on the waterfront there was no doors on all of the gents cubicles,i found that a bit strange and had a look closer and sure enough they had all been built purposely without doors (glad i only wanted a pee).So off we went again following the coast to Santa Monica where we went back on to the freeway and straight to the Alamo car hire depot to return the car(they were very efficient there).Anyway this is where Betty and i had decided that we would dispose of our top coats ,now not just wanting to dump them in the rubbish i approached one of the guys at the car hire depot and asked him if they would be of any use to him, well his eyes lit up when he saw mine but he did turn his nose up a bit when he saw bettys ,anyway we jumped on the shuttle bus that took us round to the terminal. And that is where we were told that there would be no flights out to Fiji because of the bad weather (now we had just given our coats away bloody marvellous). So the Room at the hotel is lovely and we are making the most of it the weather is great and the food here is good ,what more do we want. Will return to the check in desk this afternoon to see if we can get a flight out today.speak soon betty and brian x
